Cloud Computing concept utilizes SaaS, PaaS and other types of services which are definitely paid. If paid, users are left with no choice other than what their service providers offer. As a result, it results in limiting both freedom and creativity. You may call cloud computing concept to be a regression to 50's and 60's in which users connected to mainframes through 'dumb' computers. All user data will be on the mercy of servers/systems located God knows where. In my opinion, it is simply a trap to lock users into buying more and more proprietary systems which will only get more expensive over the time.
In this regard, Google's chrome OS, which will eventually become Open Source, might, and I quote might pave a different way. Utilizing only Open Source applications developed over the world, it will leave no questions asked about proprietary systems. It is evident that in the long run, if successful, Google Chrome will take-over the cloud computing market, just like it did with Search Engine.
Wait and watch.

I think Chrome will be able to capture the home PC and the personal laptop market. To penetrate the business users market is pretty tough!
